2014 CRBC Scholarship Recipient

The Columbia River Basin Chapter (CRBC), of the Project Management Institute (PMI), is pleased to announce Kathleen Byrnes as the recipient of its 2014 Educational Scholarship Award.  Kathleen is a junior at Washington State University, majoring in Business.  Kathleen Byrnes

Kathleen was selected for the award among a list of candidates through a scholarship endowment administered by the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation (pmief.org).    

The foundation is a charitable nonprofit organization leveraging project management for social good and works to develop, implement and deliver innovative programs including scholarships, awards and grants, workshops for nonprofit and non-governmental agencies as well as project-based educational programs.

Kathleen, when notified of the award, said, “I am ecstatic about receiving the scholarship.  I am so grateful for this support because it will help my financial stress!”

The Project Management Institute Columbia River Basin Chapter (www.crb-pmi.org)  was established in 1994 and is now comprised of 313 members in a region bordering the Columbia River and serving members throughout Washington and Eastern Oregon.  Over 200 of the chapter’s members have earned certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) for their experience and demonstrated mastery of project management skills.

Upon receiving notification of award by PMIEF, Chapter President, Steve Swenning stated “We are pleased to hear of Kathleen’s award.  We wish we could do more.  To that end, I have challenged our Board and membership to aggressively manage our revenue and sponsorship donations to increase our endowment and leave a lasting legacy for more deserving students.”
